Dugout Report: Anderson goes for third straight win against Rockies
Left-hander Brett Anderson (9-8, 3.36 ERA) looks for his third straight win as the Dodgers take on the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday.
Anderson is 4-2 since early August and picked up a win over the Rockies in early May. The lineup is far different than it was back then as the Dodgers are dealing with several injuries and integrating several players who joined the team as part of September’s roster expansion.
Justin Ruggiano, who has three of his five home runs this season in the two weeks since he was traded to the Dodgers from Seattle, will play left field and bat leadoff. Chris Heisey, released by the Dodgers in August and reacquired at the non-waiver trade deadline, will play right field and bat eighth.
The double play combination of Chase Utley and Corey Seager was also not part of this team in May. Utley, who arrived in a trade with the Phillies in mid August, has hit safely in nine of his last 10 games. Seager, a call up from the minor leagues, is the hottest hitter on the team, posting a .432 average in his 11-game big league career.
Seager, who had two hits in his Dodger Stadium debut on Monday, will play shortstop and bat sixth.
The Rockies will start left-hander Chris Rusin (5-8, 5.14 ERA).
